Northern College is seeking a Professor, Environmental Sciences in our Sciences department to teach and redevelop a variety of courses in our existing Environmental Technician – Water and Wastewater Systems Operations (ETWWSO) program and in planned future environmental protection programming supporting natural resource-based industries in our region. The successful candidate will be proficient with the MS Office Suite, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Additional, knowledge of environmental laboratory and/or monitoring techniques and experience in teaching is considered an asset.

Reporting to the Dean of Sciences, the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The incumbent should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization. In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

What you will need to be considered:

Bachelor of Science and/or;
Water and wastewater industry expertise: Class I (or higher) drinking water/ wastewater operator's certificate(s);
Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in environmental sciences, and/or the water and wastewater field and/or mining environmental management;
The incumbent may be required to provide a criminal reference check.
