DUTIES:
Northern College is seeking a qualified professional to teach a variety of courses in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker programs.

As part of teaching assigned courses and clinical assignments, the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The incumbent should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization. In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

The successful incumbent must be willing to shadow and lead simulation learning in the department, and must be able to develop and deliver curriculum with a focus on acute/critical care.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent will possess the following qualifications:

Completed PhD preferred or Doctorate in Nursing;
Masters of Nursing degree is required;
Minimum 3 years’ current/ recent experience (within the last five (5) years) with provisions of direct patient care in an emergency/critical care nursing environment is required;
Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
Valid Certification in ACLS in required;
Valid First Aid/ CPR Certification is required;
Strong leadership skills, visionary capacity and commitment to positive community development;
Ability to provide a copy of immunization records;
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite;
Certification in ATLS, PALS, and/or NRP is an asset;
Knowledge or experience with CASN/CNO accreditation processes is an asset;
Certification/training/professional development with simulation in a teaching environment is an asset;
Experience with NCLEX structure and teaching preparation requirements is an asset;
Teaching experience using a variety of modes of delivery (video, web-based, etc.) and methodologies is an asset; and
Experience in Nursing research/scholarship is an asset.
The incumbent may be required to provide a criminal reference check.
