DUTIES: Northern College is seeking a qualified professional to teach a variety of courses in the Computer Engineering Technician Program, and/or related programs.

As part of teaching assigned courses, the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The incumbent should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization.
In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students within the program and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field, would be an asset
• Certification in either of Oracle Certified Professional, Java Programmer (OCPJP) or C++ Certified Professional Programmer (CPP) would be an asset
• A combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be considered

Experience:
• Five years of experience in a programming environment
• Experience with web and mobile application development would be an asset
• Experience in Network Administration would be an asset.
• Experience in teaching would be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Proof of valid WHMIS/WHMIS Review card is a requirement for employment with Northern College.
