DUTIES: Northern College is seeking a qualified professional to teach a variety of courses in the Computer Engineering Technician Program, and/or related programs. The course outlines for these programs can be obtained by calling the Program Assistant of Trades & Technology at 705-235-3211 ext. 2149.

As part of teaching assigned courses, the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The incumbent should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization.
In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students within the program and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Computer Engineering Technician/Technology Diploma
• Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field would be an asset
• Certification in the following is required:
• Cisco: CCNA – Routing and Switching, CCNA – Security
• CompTIA: A+
• Certification in the following would be an asset:
• CompTIA: Linux+
• Microsoft: MCSA
• VMware: VCP6-DCV
Experience:

• Five years of experience in the field of Computer Science or Network Administration, or a related industry is preferred
• Experience with the MAC OS in a business based network environment and Windows PowerShell would be an asset
• Experience in teaching would be an asset.
• A combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be considered

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Proof of valid WHMIS/WHMIS Review card is a requirement for employment with Northern College.
