Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Radiography

​The School of Health at Mohawk College and the McMaster Interdisciplinary Sciences Collaborative Medical Radiation Sciences Program requires a full-time professor to teach in the Radiography Specialization of the program.

​Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the professors in the Medical Radiation Sciences Collaborative Program are responsible for providing academic leadership for our students by developing an effective and inclusive learning environment. Knowledge in computed tomography (CT) and physics as well as the ability to integrate research initiatives within the radiography specialization is required.

Responsibilities:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Teaching a variety of courses in the program, focusing on CT (basic & advanced), physics, pathology and procedures.
Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising.
Developing and revising curriculum to align with national competency profile.
Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology.
Participating in program quality assurance activities, including external program accreditation.
Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories.
Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies including online learning.
Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Collaborating with colleagues and teaching in interprofessional courses.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

​Completed formal education in radiography; registration in an additional specialization (Radiation Therapy, MRI, general or cardiac sonography or Nuclear Medicine) would be an asset.
​A Master degree (or in progress) specializing in Radiography or related field; PhD or PhD in progress is an asset.
​Proof of current registration with the College of Medical Imaging Radiation Technologists of Ontario (or equivalent) is required.
​At least five (5) years of diverse and current experience in radiography practice, including computed tomography.
​Active membership in the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.
​Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development and ability to demonstrate knowledge of current practice and technology in education and the profession – continuing education and extensive clinical experience in CT.
​Demonstrated experience with curriculum design and evaluation, and development of learning outcomes.
​Teaching experience in a relevant post-secondary educational program is required.
​Knowledge and skills to support the delivery of online pedagogy.
​Strong computer skills in Microsoft office and educational learning technologies and knowledge of PACS software.
​Further credentialing in radiography an asset.
​Experience or an understanding of a film environment is an asset.
​Involvement in current or recent research is an asset.
​Involvement with national accrediting bodies is an asset.
​Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. They may be assigned to teach classes in-person at any College campus and online. Teaching may be scheduled to between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday. Teaching on weekends is also possible.

The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
