Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography

​Mohawk College’s Faculty of Health Sciences requires a full-time professor and for the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography Program. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Medical Imaging the professor is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment.​

Responsibilities:


The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Teaching a variety of courses in the program as assigned.
Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising.
Developing and revising curriculum to align with national competency profile.
Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology.
Participating in program quality assurance activities, including external program accreditation.
Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories.
Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies including online learning.
Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Collaborating with colleagues and teaching in interprofessional courses.
Participate in program growth initiatives through the college and with the community.
Maintain a line of communication with Sonography Canada and CMRITO.


Qualifications:


The successful candidate will have:

​A graduate of a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program or equivalent.
​An undergraduate degree is required, a graduate degree is preferred.
​At least 5 years current and extensive experience in cardiac sonography.
​Proof of active registration with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Adult Echocardiography as well as the CMRITO. Credentialing in additional subspecialties would be an asset.
​Cardiovascular technician education is an asset.
​Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current practice.
​Current and relevant teaching experience in a post-secondary education is an asset.
​Current/relevant teaching in an online environment in post-secondary education is an asset.
​Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. They may be assigned to teach classes in-person at any College campus and online. Teaching may be scheduled to between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday. Teaching on weekends is also possible.

The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
