Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Business Analytics and Data Management

The Department of Business Management in the McKeil School of Business requires a full time Professor to teach theoretical and practical business applications in a number of courses and program areas, at both the senior and junior level. Areas of expertise and interest should include: data management and analysis, with an emphasis on solving real-world problems using cutting-edge data-intensive methods, data-intensive computing, big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

The successful applicant will be expected to be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as Information Systems, programming fundamentals (JavaScript/Python), database management systems (RDBMS, OODB, Graph DB, Data Warehouses), machine learning, and statistical methods for data analysis. Candidates with a background in data governance and or communicating with data would also be considered.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.​

Responsibilities:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Delivering the theory and practical application.
Creating a positive and innovative student-centred learning environment.
Using a variety of teaching and learning strategies including online learning.
Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
Enhancing educational delivery and experiences through the use of technology.
Applying college values and philosophy in work activities and interactions with others.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop, evaluate, revise and deliver academic curriculum cooperatively with other professors.
The incumbent will be expected to make use of educational technology in course delivery and services, to promote student success initiatives and to work with program areas of the College.
Delivering math-related curriculum.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have:

A relevant PhD.
Relevant experience in business is an asset.
Prior experience with IBM Cognos Analytics is an asset.
Prior teaching experience at the post secondary level would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.

Must also be able to demonstrate:

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner.
Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.

Programs run on a year-round basis and teaching during the spring and summer months is required. Faculty may be scheduled to teach between the hours of 8:00am to 10:00pm.
