Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, OTA PTA

Mohawk College School of Health and Community Services Occupational Therapist Assistant Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) program requires a professor with an Occupational therapist designation to teach for the program. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the professors in the OTA/PTA program are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

​The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Teaching a variety of courses in the program as assigned.
Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising.
Developing and revising curriculum.
Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology.
Participating in program quality assurance activities.
Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
Participating in special projects to support the community educational needs.
Participating in the communication and outreach to community partners for placements and clinical relevance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have:

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Master’s degree an asset.
Applicant will have proof of active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Further credentialing in the field is an asset.
Minimum five years of diverse and current experience in the field of Occupational Therapy.
Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current practice.
Teaching experience in a relevant post-secondary educational program and/or continuing education is an asset.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft office and educational learning technologies.
Preference to a demonstration of leadership in education through seminars, papers, community education and/or conference involvement.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she/they may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
