Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Learning Outcomes Assessment Consultant

This non-teaching faculty role will report to the Director, College Student Success Innovation Centre (CSSIC) and will be dedicated to leading and supporting established research and development activities; identifying new research and development opportunities; and contributing to institution-wide capacity building on learning outcomes, essential skills and assessment in collaboration with Mohawk’s Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The incumbent will also advise on literature and best practices related to educational research, student success, essential skills articulation and development, curriculum design and development and assessment. This is a dynamic role, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

The CSSIC is Canada’s first research centre on a college campus uniquely focused on community college student success. Applicants are encouraged to learn more about our team, projects and partnerships on our website.

Responsibilities:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:
• Advising internally on outcomes-based learning, essential skills articulation and development and assessment, including Mohawk’s use of the AAC&U VALUE Rubrics.
• Collaborating with external and internal partners (including CTL, Academic Quality and Students, International and Alumni).
• Contributing to research and development activities, which could include:
• Conducting literature reviews and environmental scans.
• Determining appropriate research methodologies and developing and implementing surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.
• Preparing Research Ethics Board (REB) applications.
• Producing research outputs (e.g. new curriculum and assessment tools, professional resources, etc.)
• Collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
• Contributing to knowledge dissemination (e.g. proposals, articles, conference papers and posters, interim and final research reports, white and grey papers, blog posts, etc.).
• Identifying or generating evidence to inform best practice in support of student success.
• Exploring funding opportunities to support new and current research and preparing grant proposals and budgets.
• Building institutional capacity through the facilitation of workshops and other professional development opportunities, as well as developing and disseminating support tools and materials.

Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have:
• A Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Education or Social Sciences or another discipline and equivalent relevant experience.
• Relevant experience includes:
• Conducting research independently and/or as part of a team (experience conducting educational research and/or analyzing quantitative data considered an asset).
• Preparing grant proposals for government research agencies and/or private foundations.
• Teaching at the post-secondary level.
• Designing and developing curriculum (including assessments and rubrics) at the post-secondary level.
• Developing and facilitating training for faculty and staff and helping other professionals learn.
• Demonstrable essential skills, including:
• Communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Planning, time-management, problem-solving, and multitasking proficiency.
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment as both a leader and team member.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (preferably Canvas), business computer applications (including MS Word and Excel, Adobe Pro) and virtual communication tools (Skype for Business, Zoom, Microsoft Teams), including a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new software applications.
• Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This would include experience communicating and working effectively with diverse clients and colleagues.
