Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Office Administration

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Liberal and Administrative Studies, the successful applicant will be expected to develop, deliver, and revise curricula at the certificate and diploma, level in collaboration with colleagues and other College departments. These consist of, but are not limited to, courses on computer business applications, document preparation, record keeping, financial and accounting concepts, digital skills, presentation skills, and client service.

These courses serve as the basis for the Office Administration – General certificate, the Office Administration – Health Studies diploma, the Office Administration – Legal diploma, and the Office Administration – Executive diploma.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

​Delivering both theory and practical applications of the defined program of studies.
​Working closely with stakeholders across the institution to design, update, and deliver a variety of courses that uphold academic quality and adhere to college policies and procedures.
​Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs.
​Creating a positive, collaborative, and engaging learning environment, both in the classroom and online, that upholds the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
​Providing innovative educational delivery and experiences through the use of online educational technology and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), for in-class and online delivery.
​Using a variety of teaching and learning strategies such as Experiential Learning (EL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), adaptive technology, and alternative delivery methodologies.
​Designing appropriate assessment strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating learner progress and achievement.
​Participating in department, school, and college-wide activities/tasks as required.
​Working creatively, collaboratively, and collegially with administrators, colleagues, staff, and learners.
​Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and learner success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have:

​5–7 years of relevant work experience in an office administration environment.
​A college diploma or advanced diploma in a pertinent field (an undergraduate degree and/or masters degree would be an asset).
​Evidence of 3–5 years of highly effective adult or post-secondary level teaching office administration or similar program.
​Knowledge and fluency in the use of computers and related applications, e.g., the full Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, etc.
​Knowledge of principles of AODA and application in the working environment.
​Experience designing curricula and/or programming.
​Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse learners and provide a positive learning environment to learners working at different skill levels, including international learners, Indigenous learners, first-generation learners, and learners requiring accommodation.
​Experience and knowledge of the intersections of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and Indigenous Knowledge Learning Outcomes as they relate broadly to curriculum/program development and teaching and learning.
​Evidence of demonstrated application of adult learning principles, methodologies, curriculum design, and development.
​Knowledge and experience with Learning Management Systems, e.g., Canvas, to enhance learning.
​Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team, through the application of strong interpersonal and communication skills.
​Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of learners, employees, and the community.
Must also be able to:

​Demonstrate ability to teach a variety of office administration courses. Ability to teach courses at both the certificate and diploma levels will be given preference.
​Teach in-person and on campus.
​Demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
​Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.


Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she/They may be assigned to teach classes in-person, online, and in hybrid formats for any College Campus, and may be scheduled to teach between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday.

The candidate should have experience and knowledge of the intersections of indigenous education, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Equity Diversity and Inclusion as they relate broadly to curriculum/program development and teaching and learning.
