Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Sonography

Mohawk College School of Health and Community Services Medical Radiation Sciences Collaborative Program (Mohawk College & McMaster University) requires a Professor to teach in the Ultrasonography Specialization of the program. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the professors in the Medical Radiation Sciences Collaborative Program are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students.


Responsibilities:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Teaching a variety of courses in the program as assigned.
Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising.
Developing and revising curriculum.
Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology.
Participating in program quality assurance activities.
Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
Participating in special projects to support the community educational needs.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

A diploma or degree from an accredited Medical Radiation Sciences program or equivalent.
Applicant will have an undergraduate degree and enrolment in or completion of a Master’s degree or equivalent is an expectation.
Applicant will have proof of active registration with Sonography Canada (Generalist credential) and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (Abdomen and OB/Gyn credentials). Registration in Vascular is an asset.
Further credentialing in Ultrasound and/or in another modality would be an asset (MSK, Breast, Pediatric Sonography)
Ontario Applicant will have proof of registration with the regulatory body CMRITO
Minimum five years of diverse and current experience in sonography practice, including general and vascular, with musculoskeletal and obstetrics and gynecology preferred.
Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current practice and technology in education and the profession.
Teaching experience in a relevant post-secondary educational program and/or continuing education would be an asset
Strong computer skills in Microsoft office and educational learning technologies. Knowledge/use of PACS software and administration considered an asset.
Preference to a demonstration of leadership in education through seminars, papers, Sonography Canada/OAMRS/CAMRT/ARDMS conference involvement.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.


Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. They may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
