Professor, Aviation



The Department of Aviation in the School of Engineering Technology and Aviation is looking for an outstanding individual to join our dedicated faculty team as a full time Professor for Aviation – Aircraft Maintenance, Structures and Avionics programs.

The successful applicant will teach in our Transport Canada (TC) Approved Training Organization (ATO). Programs are running at Mohawk College’s Aviation facility at the Hamilton International Airport. To be considered; the applicant must possess a current license in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering category M, S or E.

The Professor, Aviation reports directly to the Associate Dean responsible for Aviation and will teach in any number of courses in the Maintenance, Structures and Avionics programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:



​Maintain program integrity of the Aviation Programs by adhering to the Transport Canada regulatory requirements.
​Maintaining records inclusive of student projects, examination records, daily attendance records, student grades.
​Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories.
​Development of course material.
​Develop, deliver and revise learning resources within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have:

​A current license in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering category M, S or E.
​3 years experience in the maintenance of aircraft.
​Experience in aviation quality improvement systems and SMS.
​Demonstrated ability to teach at the post-secondary level with above average student satisfaction.
​Demonstrated ability to create course curriculum in AODA compliance.
​Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus and may be scheduled to teach between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
