Professor, Pharmacy

The Department of Allied Health in the School of Health and Community Services invites applications for a full-time faculty position (professor) in the Pharmacy Technician program.

Professors are responsible for course development and delivery, learning plans, student evaluations, and providing a positive effective learning environment for students.

Responsibilities:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:

create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment for students, both in the classroom and online, incorporating the use of educational technologies and principles of universal design for learning (UDL)
employ a variety of teaching and learning strategies that promote active learning in the classroom, online and in lab-based learning environments
determine and implement a variety of assessment techniques to evaluate student progress and verify the achievement of learning outcomes
provide timely and constructive feedback to students that identifies successes and encourages growth
participate in program quality assurance activities, including program review and accreditation processes
​develop and revise curriculum based on practice trends and feedback (including student, advisory committee, community partners)
model professional behaviours at all times, and hold students accountable for their behaviours including adherence to the policies and standards of Mohawk College
collaborate with colleagues and teach in a team environment
Qualifications:

The successful applicant:

​must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (or equivalent)
must bring expertise in hospital pharmacy and sterile compounding practices
must demonstrate commitment to human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with all students, employees and the community
must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of all backgrounds and ages
should demonstrate understanding of effective post-secondary delivery, evaluation / feedback, and overall curriculum design
should have a strategy in place to remain current and actively work in practice while teaching
should demonstrate engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development
should easily adapt to new software / platforms related to both the pharmacy technician and college education
should demonstrate skills that support project-based initiatives, such as organizational, problem solving, innovative thinking, and time management skills
may have a master’s degree or similar post graduate education
may have teaching experience at the post-secondary level or similar
Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she/They may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus and may be scheduled to teach between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday.
