JOB SUMMARY:

Mohawk College seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time professor position who will instruct into various programs in our Computer Science and Information Technology programs, as well as our new Digital Health programs. The preferred candidate will:

Possess a student centric attitude toward the instruction of students at both an introductory and senior level and the ability and interest in mentoring students.
Possess the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate computer science classes including courses in general networking, Unix, TCP/IP, Virtualization, Wireless, MS/Email Server Admin, Powershell, Cybersecurity Auditing.
Possesses the ability to teach both introductory and senior course in CISCO and possesses relevant credentials to support application.
Ability to design, implement and configure CISCO networking devices including security appliances. Current accreditation as a Cisco Network Academy instructor in CCNA 7, CCNA security curriculum/CISSP, CCNP, Cyber Ops Associate curriculum, Linux + and DevNet Associate curriculum are a plus.
Working knowledge of routing and switching, network security and cyber operations, OS including MS Windows Server, and multiple Linux distributions including KaliOS.
Familiarity with NIST 800 series special publications.
Possess knowledge with possibly certifications of and are interested in remaining current with emerging technology standards such as Cloud Computing, AI/Machine Learning, CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, CSSP, and core MS Certified IT professional specializations.
Ability and interest in developing, maintaining, and enhancing course materials to remain current with future industry standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Teaching the theory and practical application components.
Creating a positive and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum for both postsecondary and apprentices.
Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
Enhancing educational delivery and experiences through the use of technology to facilitate student learning.
Applying college values and philosophy in work activities and interaction with others.
Using the college’s eLearning system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must have:

Priority will be given to applicants who possess CISCO certifications and past teaching and working experience with CISCO systems.
Priority will be given to candidates that enhance the diversity of our team.
A Bachelors of Engineering or Technology or higher credential is preferred, but experiences industry professionals who have completed a college technology diploma may be considered.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level (college or university) is strongly preferred.
Five or more years of industry experience (non-academic) is preferred.
Experience in conducting independent research is desired but not required.
Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


Candidates invited to participate in an interview will be asked to complete a within-interview quiz to demonstrate their familiarity with CISCO networking configurations as part of the interview process.



The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
