JOB SUMMARY
Mohawk College seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time professor position who will instruct into various programs in our Computer Science and Information Technology programs, as well as our new Digital Health programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Possess a student centric attitude toward the instruction of students at both an introductory and senior level and the ability and interest in mentoring students.
Possess the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate computer science classes including courses in Python, C#/Unity, HTML& CSS, Java, PHP, JavaScript, Software Quality, Data Structures and Algorithms.
Possess the ability to teach introductory and senior courses in web programming, mobile technologies, and advanced software development.
Role models excellent and collegial communication with colleagues, staff and students.
Ability and interest in developing, maintaining, and enhancing course materials to remain current with future industry standards.
Familiarity with both Mac(iOS) and Android development tools.
Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories.
Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies including online learning.
Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Deliver learning resources within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have:

Priority will be given to applicants who possess a Ph.D. in a Software Engineering or related field. Candidates with a Masters degree in a similar field may be considered.
Priority will be given to candidates that enhance the diversity of our team.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level (college or university) is strongly preferred.
Five or more years of industry experience (non-academic) is preferred.
Experience in conducting independent research is desired but not required.
Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with advanced JavaScript libraries including Node.js, React JS, Vue.js.
Possess knowledge of and are interested in remaining current with emerging technology standards such as Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Git and GitHub, Browser Dev Tools, API, Authentication, MVC, migration and deployment tools (AWS, Heroku, Netlify, etc).
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.


The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus and may be scheduled to teach between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday.
