JOB SUMMARY:

​The Department of Business Management in the McKeil School of Business requires a full time Professor to teach theoretical and practical business applications in our Accounting programs. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of courses at both the senior and junior level, including, but not limited to: Financial Accounting (Introductory to Advanced levels), Managerial Accounting and Control, Personal and Corporate Taxation, Auditing, Data Analytics, Corporate Finance and various software applications.​

​Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

​The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Deliver the theory and practical application.
Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and other learning spaces.
Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies including classroom lectures and workshops, online learning, simulations and experiential learning.
Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Demonstration of student-centered course design and delivery, including aspects of Universal Design for Learning and intercultural competence.
Assess student feedback and industry trends to develop, deliver and revise curriculum.
Engage in applied research.
Working in collaboration with the accounting faculty team to deliver programs that meet the expectations of the industry and employers.


​QUALIFICATIONS:

​The successful applicant must have:

Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent would be considered an asset.
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Eight (8) to ten (10) years progressive experience in a business accounting environment.
Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level would be an asset.
Knowledge and fluency in the use of computers and related applications in Excel and various other accounting software i.e. QuickBooks, etc.
Capability of teaching a variety of senior business courses in various programs.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
​The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

​Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
