Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Business Systems

Mohawk College seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time professor position who will instruct into various programs in our Computer Science and Information Technology programs, as well as our degree programs in Digital Health and Data Analytics programs. The preferred candidate will:

Possess a student centric attitude toward the instruction of students at both an introductory and senior level and the ability and interest in mentoring students.
Possess the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate computer science classes including courses in systems analysis and design, general networking, Unix, TCP/IP, Virtualization, Wireless, MS/Email Server Admin, Powershell, Cybersecurity Auditing.
Possesses specialized skills in installing, configuring, administrating, managing, and integrating of network technologies and systems devices (knowledge of managing healthcare devices is an asset).
Knowledge of OS process management, network capacity planning, network utilization, and other network performance factors.
General coding skills such as Python, C, and C#Working knowledge of business systems, network security and cyber operations, OSs including MS Windows Server, and Linux.
Ability and interest in developing, maintaining, and enhancing course materials to remain current with future industry standards.


The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Teaching the theory and practical application components.
Creating a positive and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum for both postsecondary and apprentices.
Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
Enhancing educational delivery and experiences through the use of technology to facilitate student learning.
Applying college values and philosophy in work activities and interaction with others.
Using the college’s learning management system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.
Delivering a mix of courses that are online, hybrid, and in person depending upon operational work assignments.


The successful applicant must have:

This position has a mandatory requirement of a PhD in Business Systems, Computer Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline. Applicants who do not possess this credential cannot be considered for this role. All foreign credentials must provide a WES evaluation of credential for consideration.
Priority will be given to candidates that enhance the diversity of our team.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level (college or university) is strongly preferred.
Five or more years of industry experience (non-academic) is preferred.
Experience in conducting independent research is preferred, and there will be an expectation in the role to develop and engage in original research.
Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
