The incumbent will teach all levels of theoretical and practical course material for the Electrical Techniques, Power Distribution and Control Technician Program, Electrical Apprenticeship, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning program, Millwright Mechanical program and any other material related to electrical circuits in other programs.
Position to commence August 2021.
The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective environment through the design and revision of programs and courses, defining and evaluating learning outcomes, developing appropriate teaching and learning environments, and developing / selecting appropriate learning materials. You will be expected to tutor and counsel students as well as create assessments, rubrics, and evaluate student achievement. Participating in the development and modification of curriculum, participating in various committees, and keeping current in your field through consultation with business and industry representatives are essential components of this position. You will champion the development of customized training and educational programs in collaboration with public and private sector partners. Program promotion and student recruitment are also essential areas of responsibility.
This position requires a Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician (442A) or a Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician - Construction and Maintenance (309A). Proficiency with the Canadian Electrical Code is required. A post-secondary diploma or degree in a related electrical field or as a Teacher is preferred. A minimum of ten years progressive experience in electrical construction and/or maintenance industry is also required. Teaching or instructional experience is highly desirable.
