Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), the incumbent will work with faculty, colleagues within CTL, and academic managers across the broader college community to fulfil the college-wide strategic, academic and CTL priorities focusing on researching, developing, designing and facilitating professional development pathways, mentoring and coaching faculty, supporting a culture of academic integrity, supporting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, promoting universal design for learning practices, and supporting the integration of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) into teaching practices for full-time and non-full-time faculty.

The Faculty Developer will be asked, when possible and/or permitted, to teach one course per academic year in a course related to their academic background allowing the faculty member to demonstrate their teaching expertise. This individual will be required to manage multiple priorities, at times balancing teaching and their CTL responsibilities, while being responsive to emerging and shifting departmental and institutional priorities.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Facilitating and advocating for teaching excellence by organizing and leading faculty development activities including workshops and events focusing on authentic assessments, academic integrity and faculty success, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and EDIB
• Aligning instructional and assessment strategies using a variety of evidence-informed strategies and techniques
• Coaching and mentoring faculty in teaching excellence
• Supporting faculty in the creation of effective environments for learning
• Developing and supporting faculty learning communities and communities of practice tailored to the needs of a variety of participants
• Supporting and fostering evidence-based teaching practice by coaching faculty in course development, delivery, and assessment
• Facilitating effective decisions related to the sequencing of instruction, the integration of multimedia and visual elements, selection of assessments, and development of instructional materials and activities
• Communicating effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders with the objectives, processes, and deliverables of instruction
• Serving as an instructional consultant to faculty and academic departments
• Liaising with college-wide program teams, committees, and departments to ensure faculty development is aligned with the college’s strategic goals, Digital Innovation Strategy, Academic Plan, and CTLs strategy
• Supporting faculty development as it relates to digital innovation strategies
• Participating in portfolio/academic/campus and college-wide activities as required, including committee work
• Representing the college at the provincial level in provincial committees and organizations
• Presenting their work at internal and external events including conferences, symposiums and showcases
• Demonstrating a commitment to SoTL as it relates to faculty development and support


• Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to higher education
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience, or equivalent, at a postsecondary level or adult learning environment
• A minimum of three years of relevant faculty development experience
• Experience in some or all the following: curriculum development, UDL, academic integrity strategies, adult learning methodologies, faculty mentoring and evidence-based teaching
• Demonstrated ability to communicate across differencesand deal with challenging and often emotional subject matter with diplomacy, integrity, and a commitment to healing and growth
• Familiarity with scholarship on faculty development, diverse learner needs, educational technology, student engagement, authentic assessments, and academic integrity
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Experience communicating and effectively collaborating with multiple stakeholders to produce deliverables
• Proven ability to work independently and meet timelines/deadlines
• Strong consultation and project management skills
• Familiarity with college departments and academic initiatives
• Experience working with faculty developing teaching and learning skills
• Demonstrated commitment to mentoring peers
• Knowledge of EDI and UDL principles as it relates to curriculum development and delivery
• Experience applying an innovation lens to curriculum work
• Experience with curriculum development and/or program renewal and/or course design
• Designed, developed, and delivered courses in multiple modalities, which could include hybrid/online/HyFlex/dual synchronous
• Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment
• Digital competencies include being well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems, digital authoring tools and other educational technology tools
• Ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning
• Ability to provide faculty development support to more than one subject or program area
