Reporting to the Director, Libraries and Academic Success, this position will support research, teaching and learning at Georgian College. The specific duties include but are not limited to:

Project Management Lead for all Open Education Resources (OER) work
• Assume a leadership role in guiding faculty, student service areas and other campus partners in the discovery, creation, dissemination, identification, adoption and assessment of open and affordable course content
• Develop strategic partnerships with various campus stakeholders and work closely with them to both promote the use of OERs and to support their integration into curriculum
• Develop an assessment plan that includes, methods and documentation for assessing and reporting progress in adopting OERs and the library’s role in supporting and promoting their use
• Ensure alignment with the work of Georgian’s Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on evidence based pedagogical practices when adopting, adapting and creating resources
• Create a sustainability plan for ongoing support and work related to OER and actively search for and request additional external funding opportunities
• Ensure all Georgian outputs are made publicly available and visible
• Implement best practices of accessibility, assessment, attribution, and resource sharing as they relate to the publication of OER, including making policy and procedure documents open, adaptable, and accessible
• Develop service initiatives, programming, outreach opportunities and workshops designed to support OER and library services
• Stay current with emerging trends, technology, open licensing, etc., to lead college in OER initiatives
Copyright and Scholarly Communication
• Ensure compliance and familiarity with copyright law, open access, author rights, fair dealing, controlled digital lending, creative commons, international IP, and ways in which the college community can contribute to new and evolving methods for distribution of research results
• Collaboratively work with the Library copyright working group to provide copyright guidance to the college community, including Georgian Stores to interpret licenses, apply copyright guidelines, implement copyright training and outreach initiatives, monitor national and international copyright and intellectual property developments and trends and Georgian’s Copyright policy
• Interpret library vendor license agreements
Digital Tools
• Ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessibility standards in the creation of digital content
• Experience in video creation, interactive tutorials, instructional resources, maintenance and development of webpages
• Experience working with open content development tools including but not limited to Pressbooks, H5P, Merlot’s Content Builder, Google Docs, GitBook
Teaching and Library Services
• Select appropriate collection materials in a variety of formats, following the Library’s Collection Management Policy and procedures that supports academic programming
• Provide instructional and academic research support as required
• Identify opportunities to increase student and faculty engagement with Library and Academic Success resources and services to support department and college strategic priorities
• Develop and deliver information literacy content relevant to various levels of learners via a range of styles and modes, both in class and online
• Support the development of Georgian’s Research Data Management Policy
• Support both the college and departments digital literacy initiatives

• A Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library school
• A minimum of two years’ experience providing library services in an Academic library, preferably a college setting
• Intermediate knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply copyright legislation, license terms and fair dealing principles
• Demonstrated project management and leadership; proven record of driving initiatives forward
• Strong communication skills, oral and written; demonstrated presentation skills
• Demonstrate creative approaches to advocate for OER resources in a changing environment
• Proven knowledge of assessment techniques and trends in academic libraries as well as higher education
• Strong Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, students and staff
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and work effectively with a team environment online
• Proven ability to recognize opportunities, take initiative, be innovative and creative
• Support diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the department and across the college
• Contribute to initiatives of the Library and Academic Success department including working groups and external committees
