Position Description:

The Professor, Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective, student-centered environment for learning through the design and delivery of curriculum within the School of Nursing at George Brown. The professor will teach courses to students in all years at the degree level, in the nursing degree program in addition to other degrees, diplomas and certificate level courses when required.

Education / Certification / Designation:
    A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Masters in Nursing or Education are required.
      A PhD or terminal degree in Nursing preferred.
        Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (with no practice restrictions) and in good standing.

        Experience:
          Five (5) full-time years of recent experience in nursing practice.
            Progressive experience and expertise in at least one of the following areas: adult acute medical surgical health care; interprofessional practice; simulation education.
              A history of scholarship and peer reviewed publications will be an asset.
                Prior post-secondary teaching training and experience in adult instructions techniques, and curriculum design experience will be preferred and will be applied in a variety of teaching and learning settings.

                Knowledge / Skills Set:
                  A thorough knowledge of current trends in nursing practice, with proven ability to teach the entry-level practitioner in the classroom and lab setting will be required. Academic leadership experience in a post-secondary program is an asset.
                    Must have experience with advanced learning technologies, including online delivery.
                      Involvement in innovation and professional development related to teaching, use of technology, and student success.
                        Ability to convey conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and learning needs.
                          Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and life-long learning.
                            Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
                              Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
                                Candidates seeking full-time faculty positions with the College must demonstrate the ability to design, facilitate and assess learning in accordance with adult learning principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).


                                Interview process will consist of a mock teaching experience and, in some cases, a practical skills component.
