What This Position is About:

As a faculty member of the School of Health and Community Services, you will play a key role in promoting academic excellence and creating an effective learning environment. As a Professor in the Hairstyling Program, you will be expected to contribute to the discipline by developing relevant, program-aligned curricula, contribute to cross college discussions, develop student skills, and play an effective role with the teaching teams, integrating innovative learning strategies and outcomes. Student assignments involve real world tasks and goals that are relevant to learner needs.

What We Are Looking For:

You are a licensed hairstylist with a diploma in hairstyling and possess a relevant combination of current (within the last five (5) years) industry experience and teaching experience relative to all aspects of hairstyling, ideally having a subspecialty. The successful candidate should have a strong background in all vocational learning outcomes related to hairstyling, including haircutting (shaping), colouring, hairdressing, hair extensions, wigs, sales, and marketing.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to create positive learning experiences for diverse learners; being flexible, adaptable, and creative with students and community partners is essential. Proven experience with a range of:
• Sales and Business knowledge
• Ambassadorship, knowledge, and education as it relates to product lines

This role requires self-motivation, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for learning and for supporting student success. Good organizational and time management skills plus the ability to work independently as well as within a team-based environment are required. Demonstrated critical-thinking skills with the ability to apply a creative, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving is a must. Our ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable and has the ability to remain current within a constantly changing environment. You are comfortable working with technology and are proficient in a variety of computer applications including word processing, presentation, e-mail, learning management systems, online learning applications and various web applications.

NOTE: This position requires the ability to teach day and/or evening classes.

Salary Range
As per the full-time salary grid.
