What This Position is About:
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Professors in The School of Health & Wellness play a key role in creating a learning environment and experience that is inclusive of all students by way of using a variety of teaching methodologies, providing timely feedback, and through authentic and differentiated assessments. Faculty work and teach both individually and in teams to design, develop, and deliver curriculum to students using lectures, seminars, skills labs, and clinical placements.

During the five semesters of the Practical Nursing program, through the use of simulation and interprofessional educational approaches, our students learn the concepts and skills related to health and nursing. After successfully completing, graduates are eligible to write the provincial examinations with the College of Nurses of Ontario and become registered to practice in Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse. The School of Health and Wellness is a member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing due to the quality of our Practical Nursing program which holds a Category 1 Approval from the College of Nurses of Ontario. In addition, the Practical Nursing program has strong links with Peterborough and the surrounding community's health care facilities and organizations, ensuring students have excellent clinical opportunities to explore various aspects of nursing. Employers in the health care field have recognized Fleming's Practical Nursing program as leader in providing nursing education, producing knowledgeable and clinically well-prepared graduates.

Students in the Practical Nursing program have the option to complete their studies with an Indigenous Perspectives Designation. What We Are Looking For:
You must possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing as well as a Master’s Degree in Nursing in addition to at least five years of current experience in an acute care or speciality clinical nursing setting. Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is also required.

You must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and current evidence of ongoing and continuous professional development in Nursing is required.

This role also requires self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability to change and a passion for learning and student success. You have the ability to enhance the student experience by creating a rich and open learning environment that embraces creative teaching and evaluation methods that promote inclusion and diversity. You have the ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment, with strong conflict resolution and leadership abilities, including the drive to continuously learn and achieve results through consultative decision-making processes. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deliver and receive feedback, as well as highly developed critical thinking/problem solving, and organizational/time management skills are required. This role requires the incumbent to demonstrate accountability and responsiveness to students, colleagues and the community, including a proven knowledge of current and upcoming industry trends in healthcare.

You have demonstrated cultural awareness and a commitment to Fleming’s Indigenous Education Protocol and Fleming’s Honoring the Rights of Indigenous People Policy. Extensive experience developing & delivering curriculum in the form of lectures, seminars, labs, field trips, work placements, simulation, interprofessional educational experiences, and/or other innovative delivery methods is also required. You foster student success through the use of effective, consistent and timely feedback underpinned with a competency and outcomes-based approach to achievement. Experience in an e-learning environment is a definite asset with proficiency in current nursing and nursing education teaching technologies (including Learning Management Systems) is preferred.
