Do you have experience delivering teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery, including blended learning?
As a key member of the School of Justice and Community Development, you will play a pivotal role by instilling academic excellence, fostering an effective learning environment, and designing, teaching, revising, and updating curriculum. As a Professor in Common First Semester, you will work in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and other Justice Professors, to ensure students have a strong foundation for success in their chosen field.
Faculty are often required to teach in teams and deliver material in creative, innovative ways. This may be face-to-face (e.g. lectures and seminars), online and/or other forms of learning facilitation. As a Professor in the School of Justice and Community Development you will be expected to teach a variety of course offerings delivered to the common semester program. As we build our research capacity in the field, you may be expected to support applied research initiatives involving our students and community stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess at a minimum a Master’s Degree (or equivalent), in a related field (Social Sciences, Education, etc.), along with a minimum of 5 years of current (within 5 years), work and/or teaching experience in the field of law and/or justice, working with a diverse client group. You will be required to teach a variety of courses across a number of diploma programs in the School of Justice and Community Development. You have demonstrated experience and success in teaching or training large and diverse groups of adult learners, with proven strategies for innovative and effective classroom management and student retention.

You have recent experience in one or more of the following areas:
• In depth knowledge of Student Retention and Engagement strategies.
• Experience teaching students with a variety of background knowledge, skills, and life experiences.
• Applied research experience in the Social Sciences, Education, Justice System, or other related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and current Social Media applications, with a strong understanding of the personal, privacy, and security risks involved therein.
• Work experience related to at least one of the following programs: Protection, Security, and Investigation; Police Foundations; Paralegal; Law Clerk; Community and Justice Services (formerly Corrections); Customs Border Services.
• Experience implementing the principles of Universal Design for Learning and supporting a professional learning environment that prioritizes safety and inclusion for all.
• Experience developing excellent, informed, and well researched curriculum to adult learners (preferably in a post-secondary education setting).

You have the ability to enhance the student experience, proven by creation of a rich learning environment and creative teaching and evaluation methods. You have demonstrated teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners and have demonstrated your ability to create a learning environment that motivates and engages learners using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery including online and or blended delivery. You foster student success through the use of effective, consistent and timely feedback underpinned with a competency and outcomes based approach to achievement.

Your curriculum design and development experience incorporates your awareness of current practice, innovative trends and emerging issues in the field of justice.

This role requires Superior interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, critical thinking and problem solving, a commitment to life-long learning, good organizational and time management skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning as a dual professional, fostering relationships and connections while providing accessible, superior service to students.
