What This Position is About:
As a member of the Counselling and Accessible Education Services team, the successful candidate will provide personal counselling services within an educational environment in order to support students in the realization of their learning goals. This involves: using appropriate counselling interventions and assessment to assist students from all areas of the college to explore personal and social difficulties as well as educational decision making. You have a strong working knowledge/background in crisis and brief solution-focused interventions. You will work in a consultative role with faculty and college staff to identify and address student issues; conduct workshops and participate in department and counselling team meetings.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess a master’s degree in a counselling-related field (e.g., M.Ed. Counselling Psychology, M.A. Clinical Psychology, M.S.W.) with a supervised practicum and have at least 3-5 years experience working as a counsellor in a post-secondary environment. You possess competent advocacy, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Experience in case management in a multi-disciplinary team is an asset. This position requires excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, a high degree of initiative and the ability to function independently and interdependently as part of a high performing team. General computing skills (e.g. word processing, e-mail and internet) are required. You also have a working knowledge of academic accommodations including assistive technology. Advanced knowledge of human rights legislation with respect to AODA requirements and duty to accommodate is essential.
You must be registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or be a member in good standing in a regulatory college whose members are authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (psychologists and social workers).
