What This Position is About:
Do you have a passion for teaching and learning? Have you designed and facilitated curriculum focused on integrated learning opportunities that inspire students to develop and expand their skills? Do you excel in creating a positive learning environment that is adaptive, flexible, and focused on learning success? Do you have experience delivering teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery, including blended learning?

As a Professor in the School of Environmental & Natural Resource Sciences, you will participate in the curriculum development process and will provide academic leadership and collaboration within teaching teams to ensure the consistent delivery of assigned courses to a large group of diverse students. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence and achieving course learning outcomes by creating an effective learning environment through sound design, teaching, assessment, and curriculum review practices. Faculty teach in teams and develop/deliver curriculum in a variety of ways including: lectures, labs, field camps, co-op, and work placements.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess at a minimum a post-secondary diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science/Studies (or a related field of study), Bachelor or graduate degree preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of current, progressive work related experience. A related Master’s Degree is considered an asset. You will be required to teach a variety of courses across a number of diploma programs in the School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences. You have demonstrated experience and success in teaching or training large and diverse groups, with proven strategies for innovative and effective classroom management and have recent experience in the following areas:
• In depth knowledge of GIS and its relevant industry applications,
• Experience teaching complex and/or technical information to students with a variety of background knowledge and skills,
• Active use of field data collection using standard equipment (GPS, Data Loggers, and other portable technologies),
• Experience using accepted field protocols for data collection (including spatially referenced data), validation, analysis, and representation,
• Proficiency reading and interpreting both digital and paper maps using standard equipment and scales
• Experience with standard surveying techniques and equipment (including levels and total stations); Ontario Land Surveyor License would be an asset; and
• Application of mathematical and statistical principles in the collection and analysis of data.
