What This Position is About:

Targeted Start Date: May 1, 2019

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning & New Program Development, this key faculty/professor position, the Program Development Lead, will take a project lead role in guiding new program ideas through the formalized New Program Development Process (NPD). The Program Development Lead will work collaboratively with School Program Development Teams, including Deans, Chairs, Learning Teaching Supports, faculty, and support staff through each phase of the New Program Development Cycle including:
• Demonstrating a clear project lead role in guiding new program ideas (from initial concept though the stages of program design, consultation and approval process, MTCU funding application, marketing, and program launch) using the NPD process.
• Creation/writing of Business Case using standardized college template
• Facilitating regular team updates related to the new program development process map
• Creating and engagement of program reference group and leading program development teams including cross college consultation
• Sharing of program details with Academic Operations for timely implementation of operational processes

In collaboration with the School team and the Director, Strategic Planning & New Program Development, you would be involved in the following:
• Co-presenting new program idea to Academic Council
• Co-presenting program outline and MAP to New Program Implementation Committee
• Preparation and submission of MTCU funding application
• Work with staff to ensure timely college-wide communication

In order to maintain a close connection to the learning environment, the Program Development Lead will also teach a minimum of one course per Academic year and participate in curriculum development projects as required.

What We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant combination of education and experience including:
• Minimum of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
• A Bachelor of Education (Adult Education) is preferred
• Strong leadership competencies, organizational, time management, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Business Case development, formal funding proposal writing and professional writing
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design and current teaching methodologies
• Familiarity with MTCU protocols is a definite asset
• Ability to work independently as well as within a self-directed team environment
• A familiarity with program and curriculum development
• Knowledge of adult education principles and adult learning theory
• A familiarity with incorporating technology into curriculum and the learning experience
• An understanding of and commitment to equity in education; ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Demonstrated desktop literacy skills including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software
• An active sense of curiosity, a strong enthusiasm for learning, personal and professional flexibility and a willingness to support innovative, new program ideas.
