What This Position is About:
The Centre for Heavy Equipment Technology, located at the Frost Campus, is a one of a kind facility that offers diploma programs in Heavy Equipment Techniques, Electrical Power Generation, and a Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate program. Students participate in a distinctive hands-on, minds-on learning experience through applied field experience, including a paid co-op experience in the diploma programs.

As a member of the Heavy Equipment Centre, working under the direction of a Professor, you will oversee students in a practical field setting, ensure course standards are met, and contribute to the overall assessment of their skill and ability. What We Are Looking For:
You possess a relevant combination of post secondary education (Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate preferred) and/or 10 years extensive experience in the supervision and operation of a variety of pieces of heavy equipment in medium to large scale construction projects, as well as current industry training and/or certifications, such as: Surface Miner, Construction Site Management, Ground Disturbance, Damage Prevention, Risk Assessment, etc.

Demonstrated experience is required in construction site management and/or Heavy Equipment operations supervision (eg. Subdivision development, road building, aggregate production). Licenses such as 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License or 425A Agricultural Equipment Technician License would be an asset. Knowledge of operating exercises, daily inspection routines, equipment maintenance, health and safety procedures, and current construction regulations are requirements of this position.

As our ideal candidate, you will have teaching and/or training experience in a post-secondary environment, as well as experience in developing/delivering educational materials in alternative formats. You have an established industry network that could provide opportunities for our students and graduates and opportunities for the college in continuing and contract training opportunities. The role requires self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and in a team-based environment. You demonstrate a passion for learning and student success, proven by creation of a rich learning environment and creative teaching/training and evaluation methods. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as evidence of commitment to your on-going professional development are required.
