As a key member of the School of Health & Wellness, you will play a pivotal role by demonstrating teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery.

In Fleming College’s Esthetician Program, students learn how to provide a range of treatments, such as manicures and pedicures, make-up, skin care, body treatments and waxing techniques. Here's what's special about our program:

The program is fast-tracked to enable students to enter the esthetics industry sooner by taking the equivalent of two years of study in just 12 months. We have our own, on-campus, state of the art spa: The Spa + Clinic at Fleming College, where all students do their placements providing esthetic services to clients. https://flemingcollege.ca/spa-clinic

Only top-of-the-line vegan and aromatherapy-based professional products are used in both our teaching and practice, and our spa features a sink and hot towel cabinet at each station to provide students with the opportunity to both practice and experience the latest in spa body treatments and skin care services. We teach the latest trends in gel nail technology utilizing ventilated manicure tables, and students practice pedicures at stations equipped with pipe less spa pedicure thrones and massage chairs.

Due to year-round delivery of programs, this position will have teaching assigned through the summer and vacation will be taken at other times of the year.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess a relevant combination of education and experience with credentials from a recognized Esthetician Program, with a Bachelors Degree in Science, Adult Education, or Business being considered a strong addition. Seven years of current and progressive experience in the full range of professional esthetician services as well as current experience in managing and/or owning a spa or salon that provides a full range of esthetic services is required.

You possess an in-depth knowledge of established industry standards and regulations including health, safety, sanitation and infection control guidelines as well as in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and histology and their application in the provision of specialized cosmetology treatment and services. You also have knowledge of related cosmetic products and expertise using a wide range of related technology/equipment.

Your experience clearly demonstrates an understanding of the fundamental business and administration principles as they apply to the esthetician practice setting. In addition, current evidence of ongoing and continuous professional development in Esthetics is required.

You have a natural ability to role model effective motivational skills and have demonstrated knowledge. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching, curriculum design and development experience at the post-secondary level. Experience in developing/delivering educational materials in alternative formats is a definite asset, as is recent participation in on-going professional development.

This role will require a passion for learning and student success. You have the drive to continuously learn and achieve results. You will focus on enhancing the student experience by creating a rich and open learning environment that embraces diversity and provides superior service to students. You are able to apply theories of adult learning and teaching, utilize innovative delivery methods and contribute to curriculum and program development. You are able to work independently and as part of a team and can effectively contribute to multidisciplinary teams utilizing your strong leadership skills. Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to deliver and receive feedback, as well as interpersonal and critical thinking/problem solving skills are required.

You are comfortable working with technology, including blended learning technologies, and are self-sufficient with MS Office tools, presentation software, e-mail, and web applications.
