Do you have experience delivering teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery, including blended learning?
As a Professor in the School of Environmental & Natural Resource Sciences, you will participate in the curriculum development process and will provide academic leadership and collaboration within teaching teams to ensure the consistent delivery of assigned courses to a large group of diverse students. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence and achieving course learning outcomes by creating an effective learning environment through sound design, teaching, assessment, and curriculum review practices. Faculty teach in teams and develop/deliver curriculum in a variety of ways including: lectures, labs, field courses, co-op, and work placements.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess a relevant combination of education, including a post-secondary diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Geospatial Science/Studies (or a related field of study); degree is preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of current progressive experience. A related Master’s Degree is considered an asset as is an in-depth knowledge of GIS and its relevant industry applications and concepts, practices, and procedures.

You have demonstrated experience and success in teaching or training large and diverse groups, with proven strategies for innovative and effective classroom management. As our ideal candidate you have recent experience in the following areas:
• Excellent Project Planning and Organizational skills
• Demonstrated solid understanding of cartographic principles and geodesy
• Expertise in geospatial and environmental modeling techniques
• Demonstrated expertise in ESRI suite of software, and ideally AutoDesk and open source desktop software
• Application of SaaS Web/cloud based GIS tools, including at least ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise
• Experience teaching complex and/or technical information to students with a variety of background knowledge and skills
• Demonstrated experience with spatial data management
• Experience using accepted field protocols for data collection (including spatially referenced data), validation, analysis, and representation
• Experience with standard surveying techniques and equipment (including levels and total stations)
• R Spatial, PostGIS, QGIS in data analysis
• Using data from active and passive remote sensing, especially LiDAR
• Managing databases using SQL
• Python or other programming language
Experience with the following would be an asset:
• PaaS and IaaS in GIS
• Google Maps, MapBox, Leaflet or other Javascript-based GIS API
• 3D modeling, point clouds, Drones
• GPS/GNSS with correction
• Internet of Things (IoT)

You are able to apply theories of adult learning and teaching and can contribute to curriculum and program development. You have experience using a variety of teaching methodologies including traditional, hands-on, online, and/or blended delivery. You foster student success through the use of effective, consistent and timely feedback.
