What This Position is About:
Do you have a passion for teaching and learning? Have you designed and facilitated curriculum focused on integrated learning opportunities that inspire students to develop and expand their skills? Do you excel in creating a positive learning environment that is adaptive, flexible, and focused on learning success? Do you have experience delivering teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery, including blended learning?
As a Professor in the School of Environmental & Natural Resource Sciences, you will participate in the curriculum development process and will provide academic leadership and collaboration within teaching teams to ensure the consistent delivery of assigned courses to a large group of diverse students. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence and achieving course learning outcomes by creating an effective learning environment through sound design, teaching, assessment, and curriculum review practices. Faculty teach in teams and develop/deliver curriculum in a variety of ways including: lectures, labs, field camps, co-op, and work placements.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess a relevant combination of education in Environmental Science/Biology (or a related area of study) including a post-secondary diploma or Bachelor of Science degree (preferred) and 5 years progressive experience in this field. A related graduate degree is considered a strong asset. You will be required to teach a variety of courses across a number of diploma programs in the School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences at an introductory level in a large teaching team. You have demonstrated experience and success in teaching or training large and diverse groups, with proven strategies for innovative and effective classroom management and have recent experience in the following areas:
• in depth knowledge of ecology and environmental biology principles; including understanding how geological, hydrological, and climatic characteristics shape the habitat, flora, and fauna of Ontario,
• experience classifying soils and identifying the geology, flora, and fauna of Southern Ontario,
• experience using accepted field protocols for collection, validation, analysis, and representation of a range of environmentally related data,
• active use of field data collection using standard environmental equipment (GPS, Data Loggers, water parameter measurements, and other portable technologies),
• experience teaching complex and/or technical information to students with a variety of background knowledge and skills at an introductory level.
